Brittany Groundhouse is a modern, passive eco home built around an open plan lounge and kitchen from which the 3 double bedrooms, beautiful bathroom and the spectacular round room can all be accessed. It is an extremely child friendly house and was featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs.
Each of the 3 bedrooms at the Brittany Groundhouse have glazed tri-folding full height windows that overlook the wonderful organic garden and the same applies to the kitchen/lounge and round room. In the summer the house becomes at one with the garden and provides a truly stunning secluded retreat, balancing perfectly with its serene surroundings.
Essential information for the Groundhouse
A large solar panel that runs along the roof provides the house with all of its hot water and the house uses Swedish dry toilet technology to ensure that it lives up to it’s high eco credentials. There is no conventional heating at the Groundhouse as its south facing position, glazed front and passive underfloor heating keep the house lovely and warm, but there are 2 wood-burning stoves in the house should you want to take the nip off of any cooler nights.
The luxury bathroom features a huge stone bath with a magnificent over-head shower and is a magical place to enjoy a sensual bath after a long day on the go. The house is fully furnished with a tasteful mix of vintage French furniture and bespoke one off pieces made from natural and reclaimed materials.
Outside, there is a lovely patio area with outside dining table and BBQ. There are various secluded spots around the house that are perfect for lazy afternoons reading a good book or enjoying a glass of wine. The gravel area right outside the Groundhouse is perfect for a typically French game of Boules, whilst the children will be ecstatic once they discover the various swings, climbing trees and dens located throughout the gardens.
